We Made It

So we are finally here in Sydney. It's hard to believe that only a week ago we were busy saying goodbye's and packing up our house. The move over here was not without dramas... caused mostly by our "interesting" removalists. As Jodie's brother said - "You pay peanuts and you get monkeys". Well, we definitely got monkey's! But the good news is our stuff all got here eventually - mostly in one piece which surprised us both immensley!

Our first stop on the way over was at Mildura. We only got this far because the removalists didn't finish at our place until 8:30pm! So we headed off a bit later than planned. The place we stayed at in Mildura was sort of like backpackers accommodation, so that was interesting!

The next day, Saturday, we headed off early and got to Wagga Wagga for the next night. On Sunday, we were planning on getting to Sydney to meet the removalists. However after calling them on Sunday morning to make sure everything was on track, they told us that they hadn't even left Adelaide yet! So we decided to detour to Nowra to visit Jodie's Dad, and we stayed the night with him and his family. We even managed to fit in some boogie boarding - well Reuben did and Jodie spent most of the time in the water being scared of the big waves.

So, finally on Monday we arrived in Sydney! The drive here was eventful - very thick fog on the highways and multiple car accidents made the trip slow going. When we arrived we met Karl and Sally-Ann, who are the couple who own the place we are renting. They live in the house on the same property, and are renting the back part granny flat type thing to us. They are very lovely and we hope we will become good friends with them.

More about our time in Sydney so far on the next post.

We won't be sleeping in our car!

Great news today... We have found a place to live in Sydney!

It has been a bit stressful up until now. The closer it got to our moving date, the more it seemed likely we wouldn't have a place to move into straight away when we got to Sydney. But it seems that God has had it all under control. Through some very bizarre set of coincidences (in other words, God's hand at work) we have found a place to rent through a friend of a friend of a friend of Reuben's Grandma! I've put some pictures of it on here if you are at all interested.

The people who own the place have been very generous and are giving us a great price for the unit. So we will be able to give our furniture removalist a destination to take our stuff now! Wohoo!

At the moment we are in the very fun process of packing up all our belongings. The result of which means our house looks like a bomb has hit it. Jodie does not enjoy this! She is however enjoying the fact that she has only two shifts to go at work until she is free. Thank the Lord!
